vdm-x v2.0 — Now Available

We’re thrilled to release vdm-x v2.0. This is a major milestone for the project, bringing months of work into a polished, production-ready release.

Highlights

Redesigned Interface

The entire UI has been rebuilt from the ground up. The new design is cleaner, faster, and more intuitive. Key improvements:

  • Dark mode — easy on the eyes during late-night downloads
  • Drag-and-drop — drop URLs directly into the app window
  • Progress dashboard — see all your downloads at a glance with detailed stats

Performance Improvements

  • Download speeds improved by up to 40% thanks to an optimized connection pool
  • Memory usage reduced by 30% for large batch operations
  • Startup time cut in half

Plugin System

The new plugin system lets developers extend vdm-x with custom functionality:

  • Custom site extractors
  • Post-processing hooks
  • UI themes and widgets

Check out the plugin documentation to get started building your own plugins.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where downloads would stall on certain CDN configurations
  • Resolved a crash when downloading very long playlists (1000+ items)
  • Fixed subtitle encoding issues for non-Latin languages
  • Corrected file naming conflicts when downloading multiple versions of the same video

Upgrading

If you’re on v1.x, the upgrade is seamless. Simply download the latest installer and run it — your settings and download history will be preserved.
